Franck Ribery, a World Cup winner in 2006, will soon retire from football at the age of 39, according to multiple sources
The French midfielder extended his contract at Salernitana in the spring but has been plagued by knee problems.
Because of them, he has only featured in two games in August this season. According to Italian and French media, Ribery could play in one more farewell match.
He is then to serve as an advisor to the Italian club's management.
Ribery joined Salernitana last year from Fiorentina. Until 2019, he played 12 seasons for Bayern Munich, with whom he won nine titles and also triumphed in the Champions League in 2013.
In the French national team, the former Marseille and Galatasaray player has played 81 games with 16 goals.
