RB Leipzig’s wait for a first-ever win at Deutsche Bank Park continued, as Die Roten Bullen suffered a humbling 4-0 loss against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Both teams entered this match having tasted league victory for the first time this season in their previous respective Bundesliga games. Each side was faced with early disappointment here, though, as Daichi Kamada was caught offside when he thought he’d scored in the 10th minute, while Dani Olmo went off injured moments later. Kamada didn’t have to wait long for his fifth goal in six matches across all competitions this term, as Mario Götze floated a ball into that box that Randal Kolo Muani headed across goal for the Japan international to nod home.

It took just six minutes for Sebastian Rode to get Die Adler’s second with the help of a deflection off Willi Orbán, having played a one-two with Kolo Muani who now has six goal contributions from his first five Bundesliga games. The captain’s joy came to an abrupt halt after the half-hour mark when he went off injured. Die Roten Bullen had periods of possession but couldn’t do enough to trouble Frankfurt’s burly backline, and it was actually Christopher Lenz who came closest to scoring before HT.

Christopher Nkunku had an opportunity to give the visitors hope shortly after the restart but uncharacteristically blazed his volley over the crossbar. Kolo Muani was still causing problems for Leipzig’s defence and his pass pinballed to Götze, who couldn’t capitalise, firing straight at Péter Gulácsi. Another Götze shot resulted in Frankfurt’s third of the game in the 67th minute as Gulácsi could only palm it into the path of Tuta, leaving the Brazilian to convert the simplest of finishes.

Ansgar Knauff won a late penalty that fellow substitute Rafael Santos Borré slotted away as Frankfurt comfortably secured only their second home league win this calendar year. Meanwhile, five is proving to be a number of frustration for Leipzig, who have gone that many away league matches without victory - stretching back to last season - and have the same number of points from as many Bundesliga matches this campaign.
