Paris Saint-Germain extended their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 to 15 matches as a Kylian Mbappé brace helped earn Christophe Galtier’s men a 3-0 win over Nantes.

Antoine Kombouaré had taken inspiration from Monaco’s display against the champions, as his side looked to press the visitors in the early going. Les Parisiens showed their quality though, catching Nantes on the counter to take an early lead. Lionel Messi set up two goals for his side in midweek, and created the opener here as he slipped in Mbappé, who curled into the far corner, leaving Alban Lafont with no chance.

Any hope of a fightback for Les Canaris were dealt an immediate blow when experienced full-back Fábio was dismissed for a high, late challenge on Vitinha, which forced the Portugal international off injured. Nantes failed to register a shot on target as PSG took control of the contest with their numerical advantage, leaving the hosts with a huge mountain to climb in the second half.

Nine minutes after the restart, Messi was the provider for Mbappé once more, squaring the ball to find the Frenchman for a tap-in from the six-yard line. The 23-year-old was chasing a second hat-trick of the season and came close when he rounded Lafont, only to see his shot blocked by Nicolas Pallois. That would be his final opportunity, as he was substituted with an eye on their midweek clash with Juventus in the UEFA Champions League. No mercy on display from Galtier though, as his replacement was none other than Neymar.

PSG sealed all three points by striking for a third time. Substitute Neymar missed a glorious chance from close range, striking the post, but the rebound fell to Nuno Mendes who made no mistake. Incredibly, Les Parisiens have now scored at least three goals in each of their last eight Ligue 1 away games, as they retook the lead of the division on goal difference from Olympique de Marseille.
