Official: Morocco replaces Ukraine in the 2030 World Cup bid alongside Spain and Portugal
The announcement was made this Tuesday by Morocco's Minister of National Education, Pre-School and Sports Chakib Benmoussa, while reading a message from King Mohammed VI, during the FIFA Congress, which is being held these days in Rwanda.
"This joint bid, which is something unprecedented in the history of football, will bring together Africa and Europe, the north and south of the Mediterranean, but also the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds. It will also show the best in us: with a combination of genius, creativity, experience and means," said Benmoussa, reading the message from King Mohammed VI.
It should be remembered that Morocco had already lost the bid for organisation, in this case with an individual candidature, for the World Cup 2026, because of the costs of new infrastructures, having lost the joint candidature of the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Yesterday the president of the Football Federation of Ukraine, Andrii Pavelko, was suspended from office by his country's justice for two months, accused of corruption.
