In a video shared on social media by one of his fans, which immediately went viral, Rafael Nadal (36) can be seen training at a good pace on one of his academy's courts.

With just over a week to go before the Rome Masters begins, dreams of seeing the winner of 22 Grand Slams in the Italian capital again could be realised.

After all, it was Nadal himself who mentioned on more than one occasion that he would like to play on clay before Roland Garros.

He intended to do so at Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid, but it wasn't meant to be.

All that remains is Rome and we could also see a possible reunion with Novak Djokovic (35).

In fact, the Serbian world number one, who is also struggling with his fitness, showed good rhythm on his return to clay in Marbella.
