07:36 CET - After some unbelievable shocks overnight at the US Open in the last two days, normal service seems to have resumed tonight.
The only US Open champion left in the men's draw, Daniil Medvedev (28), swiftly moved through, dispatching Flavio Cobolli (22) 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. World No.1 and former women's champion Iga Swiatek (23) also had little issue, cruising past Anastasia Pavluychenkova (33) 6-4, 6-2.
Beatriz Haddad Maia (28) also progressed after beating Anna Kalinskaya (25) in straight sets, Alex De Minaur (25) raced past Dan Evans (34) despite a second-set blip, while Tommy Paul (27) overcame a tough test from surprise package Gabriel Diallo (22).
